Day 1 Tokyo
Arrive in Tokyo via the Haneda or Narita Airport and meet your driver in the arrival hall for a private transfer to your hotel in Tokyo. After checking in, the remainder of the day can be spent at your leisure while dinner this evening will be on your own.

Day 2 Tokyo
Today you'll venture into the neon-lit city streets of Tokyo, one of the world's premiere megacities, visiting all of the city's major highlights from the Old Town to the Meiji Shrine and more. Start in Asakusa, where the energy and atmosphere of Tokyo's past is still alive. Visit the main attraction, the popular Buddhist Sensoji Temple, built in the 7th century. Stroll along the Nakamise, the shopping street leading up to the temple, to peruse the many shops with their souvenirs and street food. After touring Sensoji Temple, travel across town via public transit with your guide to Omotesando, a popular shopping boulevard lined with trees. Here, a multitude of flagship fashion stores housed inside striking avant-garde buildings are located just a short walk from one another alongside myriad boutiques, cafes, bars, and much more. Next, follow Omotesando to the Meiji Shrine, surrounded by forest. The Meiji-jingu Shrine is an important spiritual site dedicated to the spirit of the Emperor Meiji that is now an especially popular place for weddings! Once the tour is over, return to the hotel and the rest of the afternoon and evening is at your leisure.

Day 3 Tokyo
Spend the morning and afternoon exploring Tokyo's wondrous and plentiful neighborhoods on your own! From the fashion-forward Harajuku and Akihabara's technophilic ambience, to the harmony of tradition and modernity found in Marunouchi - there is so much to explore in Tokyo! This evening, embark on a gastronomic journey through Tokyo's culinary scene with a local guide who will take you to a nearby foodie neighborhood, based upon the location of your hotel. Tokyo is home to so many culinary specialties and local delicacies and your local guide will help you discover all of these. Start with a round of yakitori and a drink (included in the tour), grilled chicken on skewers, with a selection of other classic Japanese dishes. Afterwards, take your guide's advice on where to go and what to taste next! Sample anything from sashimi, monjayaki, okonomiyaki, Japanese fried chicken, seafood, or whatever else tempts your tastebuds! Maybe afterwards you'll pop into a karaoke bar - the night is yours!

Day 4 Tokyo
Your last full day in Tokyo can either be a free day spent at your leisure, or you can pick from one of our optional tours: Private Hakone Tour from Tokyo via Public Transportation: Escape from the bustle of Tokyo and travel to Hakone, the gateway to Mt. Fuji and the surrounding Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. This resort town located atop the mountain of the same name is famous for its hot springs, natural beauty, and views of Mount Fuji across Lake Ashinoko. When arriving, explore the old town on the lakeshore, where there is a huge number of things to do. After lunch, travel on a cruise boat across Lake Ashi, where you might have the chance to see Mt. Fuji if the weather is clear! Next, make your way up the Komagatake Ropeway on route to the summit of Mt. Komagatake where panoramic views await. Descend from the mountain and head to Hakone before catching your train back to Tokyo. Private Tokyo Sake Brewery Tour via Public Transportation: Travel into the mountains west of Tokyo to the small city of Sawai to visit a traditional sake brewery and to sample some delicious sake! You'll be touring one of the oldest sake breweries in the Tokyo area - the Ozawa Brewery, founded in 1702. Here they brew their renowned Okutama sake and you'll have a chance to taste it for yourself. Take the train to Sawai with a local guide and after exploring this town's quaint city center, enjoy a traditional tofu-based lunch before the brewery tour. While the tour is conducted in Japanese, your guide will be on hand to translate for you, teaching you the process and revealing the secrets of creating this beloved Japanese drink. After the tour, enjoy a tasting of one free cup of sake or visit the sake-tasting center to try many other varieties as you see fit. Before returning to Tokyo, explore the brewery's sake shop or explore the natural surroundings.

Meet your driver at your hotel for a private transfer to the Haneda or Narita Airport, where you'll return home or onwards to your next Avanti Destination!
